Red Cadeaux was drawn barrier 15, the same as his first race at the Flemington track where he finished second. Second time out he was drawn barrier 18 where he came eighth and last time he was drawn way out in barrier 23 where he still made a brilliant second place. Ed is pleased with the barrier draw and is confident in Red Cadeaux’s abilities. He is a once in a lifetime horse and we feel very privileged to have him for The Hon R J Arculli. “Four times in a row with the same horse, from outside Australia I don’t think it will ever be done again but that’s a testament to the horse and the staff and obviously the owner.”
”Red Cadeaux loves it here (Australia), he loves the personal attention, he loves Robin and Steve mollycoddling him.”
The favourite, Japanese horse Admire Rakti who won the Caufield cup is top weight and drew barrier 8 which is a good draw. The Caulfield Cup is renowned as the best guide to the Melbourne Cup, and has produced 13 winners in the past 30 years, but none since Viewed in 2008. There are some very good horses in the race this year but Red Cadeaux is definitely one to watch!
Everyone loves a happy ending, the whole team wants Red Cadeaux to come home safe and sound but a win for the old boy would be a dream come true.
