Weloof lined up in the mile Maiden at Wolverhampton on Saturday night seeking redemption after a disappointing debut at Newbury at the back end of last year. He jumped well from the stalls and Adam Kirby soon had him relaxed tracking his two main market rivals. The two of them had a dual up front whilst Weloof travelled noticably well in behind them. Kirby edged Weloof to the outside rounding the final bend and when he pressed the accelerator Weloof stretched out nicely to beat Everything For You by just over two lengths.
This was a taking performance from our colt and it would appear he is much more at home on a faster surface. The handicapper is likely to give him a mark in the early 80s after he beat two horses who set a fair standard. He will now enter handicap company and we hope he can back up this run when he is next seen.
Mr Abdullah Al Naboodah has been a big supporter of the yard recently and it is fantastic to get our second winner of the year for him. It has been a good start with all of the three year olds that we have run breaking their Maidens and we hope this is a sign that we have a nice crop of three year olds at La Grange this season. Well done to all the team who have worked very hard throughout the Winter.
