The weather continues to be kind.
An incredibly strong day of trade at Goffs yesterday with a large number of six-figure lots and all of the big players out in force. I bought a colt by The Factor for George Bolton and he is an exciting type, while I also bought a filly from the first crop of Excelebration on spec for 35,000 euros.
She is a tall, scopey sort who hails from a wonderful Juddmonte family, her dam being a placed half-sister to Timepiece and Passage Of Time, and she is for sale. Her photograph is below and her page can be viewed here: http://goffs.com/sales-results/sales/orby-sale/176/. Please do get in touch if you would be interested in her.
Sagely ran a super race to finish second at Wolverhampton last night and she will continue improving, while Mulhaam was just taken off his feet in the apprentice handicap. I thought Harry gave him a good ride on his return to the saddle.
Three runners this afternoon, all at Nottingham. Pimpernella goes in division one of the fillies’ maiden and she is the sort to improve with experience. So, too, is Shafafya, who lines up in division two half an hour later and she shaped better than the bare result on debut at Newmarket having raced away from the action. She will know more this time.
Lastly, Rock Lobster tackles the Middle Distance Final and we couldn’t turn down a crack at a £25,000 pot in what looks an open contest. Soft ground caught him out at Bath under a penalty, but he bolted up at Chelmsford the time before and he ought to be competitive off this mark.
Two declarations for Ascot on Friday. William Buick will ride both Sagaciously in the Listed Noel Murless Stakes and Fieldsman in the seven furlong handicap.
Finally, for those who have not yet seen the Racing Post story on our Australian trio you can find it here: http://www.racingpost.com/news/live.sd?event_id=12183724&category=0. All is well and preparations are turning up a notch.
