Nicky,David, James and myself
A thoroughly miserable day here in Newmarket. The driving rain has been relentless since the early hours of this morning and there is no sign of it stopping.
James and Nicky Stafford stayed with us last night and have been out to see their two horses on the heath this morning. They manage the two Thurloe Thoroughbreds syndicates that own Scrutinise and a two year old Born To Sea colt. Scrutinise improved throughout last season and we hope he can land a valuable prize in 2016. The Born To Sea colt’s dam Alkhawarah is a half-sister to Ghurra and he looks a nice prospect.
We have two new arrivals today, Condensed is a two year old Dansili filly out of Cut Short. Cut Short won a Goodwood maiden and has produced the smart Fog of War who has a peak rating of 100. Later on in the morning Warrior Prince is due to arrive, he is an unraced three year old gelding by Sakhee. His dam is Queen Of Iceni who won a Goodwood maiden and has produced the decent staying handicapper Knightly Escapade.
We declared Justice First today for a 1m handicap at Chelmsford City on Friday evening. I will talk more about his prospects on Friday but there is a field of eight and he would look to have a decent chance. Two entries were also made for next Tuesday at Wolverhampton. Blushes has been entered in a 0-60 7f handicap and Vivre Pour Vivre has his third run in a one mile maiden.
