Kafoo
A cold morning on the heath today but the sun is shining and the temperatures are gradually climbing. First lot had an easy morning given that the majority of the older horses did a piece of work yesterday.
We have the one runner today at Kempton Park in the 7:25. Kafoo is a horse that we like who disappointed me last season. I am hoping that he can get back on track this evening in what looks a weak race. Horses can disappoint you when they get to the racetrack but he shows us enough at home to suggest he can win a race of this nature.
This is the time of year where the flat starts to take over the headlines in the Racing Post barring the Grand National meeting of course. It is fascinating reading about the plans that everyone is making and interesting to read that Aiden O’Brien may only run one horse in the Guineas this year which would be very rare for Ballydoyle. Air Force Blue is not a bad horse to have as your sole representative. There is another interesting contender in the form of Blue De Vega. He caught the eye when third on debut before winning both his maiden and a Group 3 impressively. He was purchased by Qatari racing after his maiden win and it will be interesting to see if he comes over to Newmarket or stays in Ireland for the Irish equivalent. It looks like Postponed will be taking in the King George once more before heading to the Arc and if he can win in France the stud fee he will command will be very high indeed.
Finally I must mention the cricket, New Zealand start the favourites for this afternoon's 20:20 World Cup semi final but I am hoping Joe Root can inspire the team to victory.
