It was still -3oc when first lot pulled out this morning and many of the riders were wishing it was still Christmas day. We have eased off all of the horses over the festive period except for those that are going to be seen on the racecourse during the next few weeks. There was some spectacular National Hunt racing over the last couple of days and the highlight was obviously Thistlecrack’s performance in the King George. He is a supreme athlete and the shot of him standing off the Open Ditch is a sight to behold.
We run Oceanus in the 2:55 at a currently foggy Lingfield this afternoon. He is wearing first time blinkers to try and help him focus but he has been drawn in the car park and it is very difficult to win from stall fourteen. We know he possesses ability and his best form would give him a chance in this lower grade but we are hopeful rather than confident given the draw. The Roger Charlton trained Nuncio has been well found in the market which is no surprise given he is unexposed and his third run was full of promise.
