Storm Jazz
I have been out in Ireland for the Goffs Orby sale and it has been a very interesting sale, especially as Godolphin have bought a Galileo! I have bought four so far and whilst it is competitive I feel I have bought mine at fair prices. Newmarket has remained dry ahead of the Cambridgeshire meeting but there is rain due tonight and if 7-8mm falls then it should make the ground just on the easy side of good ahead when the meeting starts tomorrow.
Blushing Red finished in the mid division on Monday and he needs to return to soft ground over the 10f trip or try 12f at a track like Kempton. Teenage Gal was very green and she will know much more next time whilst Mudallel’s race was not run to suit this time and he was never really able to get involved from the rear.
We run two horses at Kempton this evening starting with Storm Jazz in the 7:10. Storm Jazz has run respectably twice and the form of her second run at Lingfield has worked out well. There are likely to be a few too good here but I hope she can run a respectable race back at 6f.
Sporting Times runs in a competitive 1m4f handicap at 8:10. He travelled well last time over 1m6f before finding disappointingly little off of the bridle and so we have dropped him back to 1m4f here. He has been drawn well in stall one and so he should be able to track the leaders and hold a decent position but he does have a bit to prove. Pow Wow has changed hands since rattling off a hat-trick but he has to be respected, Batts Rock is an able performer who finished in front of us at Newmarket’s July meeting and Special Relation is on an upward curve. Special Relation looks the one we all have to beat as he remains unexposed over the 12f trip and he finished very strongly last time when winning over 1m4f on his first try at it.
