Fabulous Red

Another dry but overcast day in HQ, with rain proving elusive! However, they have had a bit of rain up at Hamilton and the going is officially soft, which has persuaded me to send some runners, whilst we are also represented at Ripon this evening. Unfortunately Global Art, our intended runner in the 3.55 at Hamilton, has picked up a knock overnight and will be unable to run.

Our Ripon runner is the tough and consistent Fabulous Red, who goes in the 0-85 mile and a quarter fillies handicap at 7.50. She ran an excellent race at Salisbury last time, just losing out by a short head to the progressive Burgonet, and she has struck up a good relationship with Paddy Mathers. Her handicap rating was untouched after that effort, so, with the officially good ground in her favour, I hope to see her run a decent race.

At Hamilton our first runner is Global Spirit in the 2.45, a 6f 0-75 for three-year-olds. He made good progress towards the end of last season, but has not reproduced his best so far this term. His most recent run at Beverley was perfectly adequate, so I hope that a drop back to six furlongs and the application of cheekpieces can coax a little improvement from him today.

Our other Hamilton runner is the three-year-old Global Exceed in the 4.35, a 0-80 over an extended mile. He had a productive two-year-old campaign, winning nurseries at Lingfield and Windsor at up to six furlongs. The longer distance here is something of a question mark, but he shaped like he would appreciate the trip when second over seven furlongs at Beverley on his latest appearance. Hopefully he has a small each way chance. Tom Eaves will partner our runners in Scotland today.

All the best,
Ed
