Vision Clear
La Grange Stables is celebrating a second win in 24 hours, after Vision Clear and Ben Curtis produced a fine display to win the 4.30 at Beverley. Sent off a 5/1 shot in a field of seven, the son of Soldier Hollow was a little keen early on and was threatening to get caught wide early on from his draw of eight. However, Ben was able to steady his mount after a couple of furlongs, and get him racing on an even keel, with the pair travelling noticeably well towards the back of the pack for much of the race.
As the runners began the climb for home two furlongs out, Vision Clear made a decisive move on the outside of his field, cruising into contention, and then decisively put a couple of lengths between himself and the pack. He drifted right to the rail once clear of his rivals, and was chased hard by the running on Zihaam, but the race was always in safe keeping.
This was a career best effort from Vision Clear, who just got away with the drying ground, and probably applied himself slightly more in first time blinkers. Ben Curtis reported that the horse had plenty in the tank at the end and could go further, so we have firmly established that a mile and a half plus is his optimum. To win from a mark of 76, having been touched off from lower ratings earlier in the year, indicates that we might have an improving horse on our hands. Indeed, his half-brother Vif Monsiuer achieved his career high when winning a Gr.3 as a five-year-old, and is now standing at stud in Germany, whilst his half-sister Vive Ma Fille was Listed-placed as a four-year-old. It might be asking an awful lot to scale those lofty heights, but there remains plenty to look forward to with Vision Clear!
We send our warmest congratulations to his owner Mohammed Jaber and thank all the staff in the yard who continue to work so hard every day
