Action shot of the opening night of Sunset Boulevard
A lovely spring morning here at Headquarters although it has become slightly overcast later in the morning. All is well with the horses, we did some gentle pieces of work with horses entered later in the week and I was happy with how they are progressing. It is a shame that nearly everywhere is heavy or very soft at the moment and because of that we have very few horses running this week. We have one runner at Kempton tomorrow and then we have a handful of entries later in the week.
Timia was slightly disappointing yesterday and it may be that she needs to drop back in trip to seven furlongs. It was a very muddling race with the winner setting uneven fractions from the front and that does not help when you are trying to assess the form of the race. We will let her get over this race and then we shall try and find the right race for her going forward.
It is only a week now until the Craven meeting starts and I hope the ground will be better than it has been at other courses around the country. It looks like we are due rain on Thursday but hopefully the cloud forecast on the other days will not materialise into anything more. I will have a handful of entries for the meeting but unfortunately no more than that. It is a great meeting that is always attended by enthusiasts and is one I look forward to.
We went to the London Coliseum last night for the opening night of the musical Sunset Boulevard. Jonny Hon an owner of ours very kindly invited us and we had a thoroughly enjoyable evening. Glenn Close was fantastic on her West End debut and we had a thoroughly enjoyable evening.
