It has already started raining in Newmarket and it looks like there could be biblical amounts of rain arriving tomorrow. It appears that most of the South of England will be hit by torrential rain and it is not ideal when we are trying to introduce two years olds to the racecourse.

Sileel disliked the ground at Ripon yesterday and did not pick up on it as a consequence. We thought we may get away with it as it was not as soft as the ground she ran on at Nottingham but she needs a sounds surface to be seen at her best.

Sagely is our only runner today in a valuable fillies’ handicap at Chelmsford. We had hoped to run her at Glorious Goodwood but the rain meant we had to pull her out of the ten furlong fillies’ handicap there. Glittering Jewel has been tried in Group company and is still unexposed, a mark of 88 may underestimate her and she is the deserved favourite. Blushing Rose has a light weight and whilst she needs to improve she may do so now she is stepping up to ten furlongs. Mia Tesoro was progressive last year Prosper needs to bounce back but she has some decent form to her name. Sagely was a close up third behind two progressive sorts last time and Lewis Edmunds takes a valuable three pounds off her back, she holds each way claims but is vulnerable to a progressive sort and her wide draw in eight is not ideal.
