Global Style

I am currently at Goffs Doncaster Sales for the Premier Yearling sale. Once more I expect the market to be strong over the rest of the sales period but I hope we can secure some nice horses. It remains dry and warm back at HQ but there is a chance the dry spell could break tomorrow which would be welcome as the ground has dried out significantly lately.

We have two runners today at Epsom. Ruysch runs in the 7f Nursery at 2:00. It looks like a very open race and if you forgive her disappointing effort at Newmarket last time then she has an each way chance. The form of her first two runs has produced mixed messages since but the winners of both races are smart fillies. Lexington Grace is the only last time out winner but that was in a Newmarket seller. Panophobia ran better on nursery debut and runs off the same mark, Seaella is consistent but has had her limitations exposed.

Global Style shaped with a little promise at Newmarket in what is normally a strong race. He is a good moving horse and so I don’t think this quicker ground will be an issue. He is still learning and so I hope he can prove to be streetwise enough for Epsom, it may be he is still too inexperienced but if he handles the track he has each way claims. Epsom can be a difficult track for newcomers as we saw with the Mark Johnston debutant there yesterday. His Lynwood Gold is very well bred and if he takes to the track then he looks a big threat to all, his stable has a very good record at the course. We Know is in the same boat, he is a nicely bred newcomer who could be anything. Most of the rest of the field are in the same boat as us, they have shown promise on debut but need to step forward here, I’m A Star has arguably shown the most promise given the way he finished his race last time.
