Oasis Fantasy
Another mild morning in HQ and we worked some horses on the watered gallop over on racecourse side. It was lovely ground and I was pleased with how all of the string went. Chris Kilroy came to see his filly Sparkle and she has come out of her recent run well. I have now headed off to Goodwood and I am looking forward to what is one of my favourite meetings of the year.
Makman was second in the 5f Wolverhampton Nursery yesterday evening, he travelled like the winner but did not find as much as I hoped he would do. The winner looked to have improved for the all-weather surface and he was a little too keen in the early stages of the race.
Oasis Fantasy is our only representative today and he runs in the opening race at Goodwood. He ran very well in The John Smith’s Cup from a difficult draw and finished off best of those from the rear. He is drawn in seven which is ok and there looks to be pace in the race, hopefully everything will fall into place and the gaps open when they need to for him.
It was very sad to hear the news about JT McNamara’s death, racing is a sport we love but it can be dangerous. JT rode 16 Cheltenham winners with 7 of those coming on the X Country course on Spot The Difference. Sir Anthony McCoy gave a lovely tribute to him on At The Races and racing has lost a very good man. Our condolences go out to John Thomas’s family.
