Al Nafoorah
It has been another miserable day here in Newmarket and it did not feel like it was the middle of summer when we were on the Limekilns early this morning. I worked a lot of horses on the short gallop and whilst the ground was slow it rode well. Glorious Goodwood is one of my favourite meetings and I am looking forward to next week, we hope to have a few runners there.
Solajan was far too keen again at Windsor last night and refused to settle. As a consequence he failed to finish of his race and until he learns to settle he is not going to realise his potential.
Al Nafoorah is our only runner in the 7:50 tonight at Nottingham. She has been very consistent this season except for her last run where she went far too fast in the early exchanges vying for the lead. She does not need to make the running and we won’t engage her in a pace dual again this evening if there is a good gallop on. There are now only five runners but it looks like a trappy race. Lamloom is consistent and ran well on ground with ease last time, he is likely to race prominently and looks a big threat to all. Natajack broke the maiden last time and is improving whilst Roman De Brut has a valuable seven taken off by Raymond Dawson. He does look high enough in the weights and needs to bounce back to form and the same can be said about Under Attack who has always been a horse that has shown promise but has failed to deliver. If the first time blinkers work he is on a good mark. Our filly will handle the ground, is in good form and has a chance in this small field handicap where nothing can be ruled out with confidence.
