Sanam
Hello from Newmarket! The sun continues to shine, baking the grass and leaving it like the road everywhere. With the weather not relenting we are heading back to the all-weather for our only runner today, Sanam, in the 9.10 at Chelmsford, a 0-65 two mile handicap.
This horse has been something of a revelation in recent months, and I hope that he can continue his good form under James Doyle. He didn’t appear on a racecourse until the November of his three-year-old campaign, but has quickly made up for lost time. He started life handicapping from a lowly mark of 50 and gained his first win from a rating of just 48, but he has appreciated a step up to longer distances, and is now seeking a fourth consecutive win. His rating is now up to 64 as a result of his success, but it is hoped that he has a little bit more improvement left in him. We know he stays two miles well, and we know that Chelmsford suits him after two previous victories at the course. Everything seems in place for a good run, but it looks quite a competitive little race so we will just have to keep our fingers crossed!
All the best,
Ed.
