Sporting Times
Events happen in life that really make you pause and take reflection and the Terrorist attack in Manchester is one of those events. No terrorism attack is ever justified or acceptable but a terrorism attack essentially targeting children and young adults is absolutely horrific. My thoughts are with those that have been affected by the barbaric act in Manchester last night.
Dark Red ran very well on Saturday when fourth at Newbury and had to race alone on the far rail. We were happy with his comeback run and I hope we can have a good season with him. Oud Metha Bridge was disappointing at Leicester last night and we will now geld him and hope he runs better next time.
We run four horses at Nottingham today. Global Exceed was too green at Brighton and I hope he is more street wise today. I am worried about the ground however as he is by Exceed And Excel but the race cut up and we decided to run him here in the first at 2:00. Carol finished her race off well here last time and was disadvantaged by the way the race panned out. I hope she will handle the ground and if she steps forward from that performance she will have every chance this afternoon.
Sporting Times ran exceptionally well on his debut at Leicester last season as he pulled a long way clear of the third. The ground was on the easy side that day and so it should not disadvantage him this afternoon. He shows us plenty of speed at home and is bred to get further, so I hope the Mile should not be a problem but he is likely to get further with time. The horse that beat him Elucidation is highly regarded but has disappointed so far this year. Maratha and Stararchitecture look the main dangers as both have shown some ability but they need to step forward a fair deal if Sporting Times can match his debut effort here.
Al Nafoorah is our last runner in the 4:30 and she has already posted two solid efforts this season. We have always thought that softer ground will suit her and we decided to keep her at a mile and run here given that the ground will get faster as the week goes on. We will step her up in trip in the future but I hope she can be competitive in this 0-70 Classified. Mach One and Dragons Voice have both only had the three runs and could well step forward and improve on what they have shown so far.
