Makman
A very damp morning here in Newmarket and 1.5mm of rain fell overnight, the ground is likely to start at good on Thursday for The Cambridgeshire meeting. It promises to be a fantastic card on Saturday with Lady Aurelia a likely runner in the Cheveley Park, Blue Point lines up in the Middle Park, The Royal Lodge is always an informative contest and then you have The Cambridgeshire itself.
We ran four horses yesterday, Carol was fifth in the first division of the 7f Maiden, she will now head off on holiday and I look forward to having her back here next year at three. Instigation improved on her first start and settled much better, she finished her race off well and was also fifth in the second division of the 7f Maiden. Michael’s Mount was disappointing in the 1m4f handicap but he was too keen and may not have handled the surface. Alqubbah ran respectably in the 6f handicap coming back from a break and she may want an extra furlong.
Makman is our only runner today in the 3:35 at Lingfield. It is his first run back post a gelding operation which I hope will help him. He is drawn wide out in stall nine which is a disadvantage over the minimum distance and so I hope he can get some luck in running. It is a competitive affair for a 0-75 and the likely favourite breaks from stall one which is a distinct advantage but I hope he can run well. William Buick has had to take today off after banging his foot and so Jamie Spencer takes the ride.
