Snow Fairy and her new Frankel Colt Foal
After a relatively quiet period on the track for La Grange, we return tonight at Kempton Park with Mr Arculli’s Amazing Red. The unseasonably wet Spring has been difficult on the horses as much as humans. With this in mind, I wanted to ensure as much as possible that all little bugs and colds had run their course before committing them again to the rigours of competition. This patience appears to have paid off, and I am now much happier with how the horses are looking and their general wellbeing. On foot of this, I have declared runners for Ascot and Redcar later this week, with more to follow over the weekend.
Amazing Red steps up to 2m in the 7.45 at Kempton tonight. I have been considering this step up in trip for him for quite a while now, but the consistency he has shown over shorter trips has delayed this happening until now. It is a typically competitive affair at Kempton with plenty of in-form and experienced stayers in the line-up, but I feel the time is right to give Amazing Red the chance to show what he can do over the extended trip. He is currently rated 89, and if as hoped, he shows improvement for the step up, it will open-up many opportunities for him to tackle the better staying handicaps over the Summer.
With racing being all about family, I was delighted to see the family of Snow Fairy increase by one with her gorgeous colt foal by Frankel. Already showing the presence befitting his parents, this regally bred chap will be the basis of many hopes and dreams for the future. Exciting times ahead.
All the best,
Ed.
