Caen Na Coille
Good afternoon from Newmarket.
Today we unleash the newcomer Caen Na Coille in the 8.00 at Wolverhampton, a fillies’ novice over nine and a half furlongs. A daughter of Medaglia d’Oro, she is out of the mare Strathnaver, who I trained to win as a two and three-year-old, and was later a Grade-3 winner and Grade-1 placed in the States.
Clearly this youngster has a lot to live up to then, and given that she is only now making her debut in the February of her three-year-old campaign, you will understand things have not always been straightforward. However, she has come forward nicely over the past few weeks and is ready for a racecourse introduction. Formidable opposition is provided by runners from the stables of John Gosden, Charlie Appleby and Ralph Beckett, so we certainly go in hope rather than expectation. I just hope the filly has a pleasing initial experience of the racetrack and will learn from the experience.
All the best,
Ed.
