Hazarfan
Good afternoon from Newmarket.
The first of our two runners today is Mudallel, who goes in the 3.00 at Chelmsford. We have the rare pleasure of Ryan Moore riding, and a horse that is returning to the AW after an unsuccessful stint on turf. He won twice at Kempton last season, only to get marooned on marks in the mid-80s. His latest run at Ayr was a step back in the right direction, as he was coming to challenge only to be badly hampered, and offers a little hope going forward. His current rating of 80 is much more manageable, we are returning to a mile and the AW, and we won't lack for assistance from the saddle. Fingers crossed for a good run.
In the 6.35 at Chelmsford I run the disappointing Frankel three-year-old Hazarfan. His mark of 72 would look a cake walk on his two-year-old form, but he has become progressively more disappointing this year. His two most recent disappointments were on the AW, so we return to turf, whilst he has a wind issue which we are hoping to aid with a tongue tie. We are also trying a mile and three-quarters for the first time. All things considered, he remains a horse that could be well-handicapped and might retain some potential, but we need to see some encouragement before we can raise our expectations below the very lowest level. Charlie Bishop takes the mount.
