Global Spirit
Good afternoon from Newmarket. Temperatures have dropped a little today, but we are still faced with quick ground virtually all over. There are signs of a potential change in the weather, let’s hope that it materialises!
We run two horses today, utilising the AW surface at Wolverhampton in order to give Global Spirit an outing in the 3.45, a three-year-old plus 0-70 over seven furlongs. He has been somewhat disappointing this season, finishing fourth twice and towards the back twice, although his last run can be forgiven on account of the ground. Encouragingly, his career best effort came at this venue, when second in a seven-furlong nursery back in November. That effort came from a mark of 65, and he is now just two pounds higher. This is a tight race, but today we get our ideal conditions, so hopefully he has a small each way chance.
In the 6.40 at Brighton we run Canimar, in a highly competitive three-year-old plus 0-70 fillies' handicap. She is the outsider of the field after a couple of really below-par efforts this season. There is no doubt she has been disappointing this year, and this is her last chance before she heads to the sales.
All the best,
Ed.
