Last week was a quiet one in terms of runners here at La Grange with Homesick Boy being the only flag bearer for the stable. He was unlucky as they trotted round Wolverhampton which didn’t suit him and he had little luck in the home straight and did well to run on for sixth.

In other news the Japanese took Hong Kong by storm taking three out of the four Group One races with the highlight being Glory Vase winning the Hong Kong Vase under a masterful ride from Joao Moreira. Japanese racing continues to go from strength to strength and we cannot wait to see them try and take on our best at Royal Ascot next year.

This week looks to be a busy one and with Sophie Smith set to have her first ride as our apprentice having ridden 5 winners as an amateur for us. She rides Gottardo at Lingfield in the 0-65 Hands and Heels Apprentice Handicap over a Mile and we are hoping she can get her career off to a flying start. He carries some of the best form into the race and with it set to be a strong tempo he will stand everything chance. Mercury Dime also heads there for the 1 mile 2 furlong maiden. She is in good order but will probably be seen at her best over further when she is stronger. David Probert takes the ride.

Maysong heads to Kempton on Wednesday for the 7 Furlong Nursery Race in great form. He has strengthened up and I expect him to run well. The race looks competitive with Kohoof (William Haggas) and Baileys Blue (Mark Johnston) looking the likely favourites having both run well in their retrospective maidens, they are expected to progress in handicap company. His form holds up well and I am looking forward to seeing him step back onto the track. P J McDonald takes the ride.

Magnificia runs in a 7 furlong Maiden at Chelmsford. She has been in good order at home and her form with Hariboux at Yarmouth has held up well. I expect her to probably need the run but she should run a good race, Adrian McCarthy who rides her every day takes the ride. We also have Roca Magica heading there for the 0-50 Seven Furlong handicap. She was unlucky last start when travelling very well into the race and not finding much in the finish. I have added blinkers to sharpen her up and expect her to run very well, Paul Mulrennan takes the ride.

On Thursday we have declared Soramond at Chelmsford for the Fillies’ Novice Race over a mile. She unfortunately missed the break last start which took her out of the race but ran on nicely at the line. I am expecting her to run well again but will be better for gaining a mark. Kieran Shoemark once again takes the ride.

Toro Dorado, Sir Gnet and Global Art are entered later on in the week and I will update you as to where they will be going.

Many Thanks,

Ed
