World traveller RED CADEAUX takes his chance on Sunday in The Tenno Sho (Spring) run at Kyoto over 3,200 metres. The race will be run at 15.40 Japanese time and the prize money to the winner is over £900,000.
Red Cadeaux made the journey to Japan on the 12th April from Dubai and spent five days in quarantine outside Kyoto before moving to the racecourse stables. Robin and Steve have made the journey with him and report him to be in good form. Robin is no stranger to Kyoto having travelled Snow Fairy there to win two consecutive Queen Elizabeth II Cups.
As always in Japan The Tenno Sho is a very competitive race with Gold Ship, who won the Japanese St Leger and the Guineas last year who will be the hot favourite. Other contenders are Fenomeno, who was second in last year's Japanese Derby and Tenno Sho (Autumn), he was also 5th in the Japan Cup and is a consistent Grade 1 performer.
Red Cadeaux has been given a draw of 13 of the 18 runners Ed quoted, "I am not too concerned about the draw as the race is over two miles."
Gerald Mosse is flying over to take the ride on Red Cadeaux who has got on so well with him in the past. Owner, Mr Arculli is also taking the trip to Kyoto to watch his horse in action and let's hope Red can give him something to cheer about once again!
