Rock Lobster: runs in the mile handicap at Chelmsford.
Not so cold this morning.
I was at the British Racing School second lot to meet the current intake before their graduation. I also visited some of our new yearlings at various pre-training yards around Newmarket and it’s always good to see what you have bought outside of the heat of the sales ring.
One runner this evening with Rock Lobster making his final start before the HIT Sale next week. We wanted to bring him back to Chelmsford as he was such a comprehensive winner on this surface back in August, so while the drop back to a mile is not certain to suit this looked the most sensible place to run.
The cheekpieces go back on following a bit of a lifeless display at Nottingham, but he appears in good form at home and should run creditably. The market suggests the unexposed duo of Natural Nine and Best Example will be hard to beat, but we hope our horse can finish off on a good footing.
Two declarations for Saturday. Island Remede heads back to Newbury for the St Simon Stakes having finished runner-up in the race last year, while Oasis Fantasy travels back up north to Doncaster for the mile and a half handicap he finished third in twelve months ago.
Back tomorrow.
