Senior Whim leads the yearlings in the outdoor ring.
The wind continues to howl and the skies remain bleak.
But hope is on the horizon! We have approximately 20 yearlings in the yard now and these are either trotting or gently meandering their way up the Town Canter.
They look a nice bunch in the flesh and on paper so we, like every other yard in the country, will spend a winter dreaming the next star lurks within our midst.
Trip To Paris remains on course for the Japan Cup on Sunday week and the La Grange Partnership are all set for another jaunt in the east.
We run two at Lingfield this afternoon. Toffee Apple and Pimpernella contest division one and two of the fillies’ maiden respectively and the former, a Zoffany half-sister to seven winners, should improve for her initial experience in a maiden that contains a couple of frightfully well-bred newcomers, including a half-sister to 1,000 Guineas winner Blue Bunting.
This is Pimpernella’s third start and she is very much the type to be a better three-year-old, with middle-distances likely to suit next summer. She will be put away after this.
While I’m at it, we run Zauffaly in the maiden auction at Wolverhampton tomorrow and we appear to have been handed the weaker of the two divisions. He ran green on debut but stayed on ok and should step forward from that run here.
Two declarations for Saturday – Arethusa will have her final start before the December Mares Sale in the fillies’ handicap at Lingfield while Red Verdon, a colt by Lemon Drop Kid, makes his debut at Wolverhampton.
