Noodle 'helping' with declarations earlier

A cold start to the day but it is warmer now. The horses continue to be in good order and we did two canters up Warren Hill with most of them this morning. Kafoo was second at Kempton Park last night. He showed us more than he had done last season which was pleasing but it was a little disappointing that he did not win. I am not sure the horses in behind were a great bunch but the winner is bred to be quite smart.

We have three runners this evening at Chelmsford City. Dark Red tackles 10f for the first time in a tricky looking seven runner contest at 7:40. He has been shaping quite nicely at home but Mystical Spirit and Whoopsy Daisy have both got the advantage of a recent run under their belts. Toffee Apple made her handicap debut at Southwell and did not handle the surface there. She runs in a 0-52 handicap at 8:10 and I am hoping we will see an improved display from her tonight. Rock ‘n Red steps up in trip at 8:40 in the 0-65 handicap, she shaped nicely on her penultimate start and the race did not pan out well for her last time at Lingfield, she would have an each way chance.

The ground looks like it will be drying out at Doncaster and may be good to soft come Saturday. We have made one declaration in the 1m2f maiden. I will talk about Amazing Red on Saturday but he is a half-brother to Red Cadeaux. We also run our first two year old of the season in the Novice Stakes at Kempton, Makman. We made nine entries today for next Wednesday so it is starting to get busy here at La Grange and I hope exciting times lie ahead.

England were at their best yesterday when beating New Zealand in the 20:20 World Cup semi final. New Zealand raced away to an impressive start but England managed to reign back the Kiwis with some disciplined bowling. We then chased down their slightly below par total with an impressive display of hitting from Jason Roy who scored 78 off of 44 balls. We overcame a slight wobble to win very comfortably by seven wickets with nearly three overs to spare.
