Afternoon All,
It was a crisp winter’s morning here in Newmarket today. Everything is running smoothly as we continue to gear up to the start of the season.
The two-year-olds experienced their first outing on the grass this week. They have also begun to do their first proper pieces of stalls work, (see Instagram) and I am pleased to say everything went efficiently.
It was pretty quiet for us last week on the runners front. I was happy with Grandscape’s run at Lingfield last weekend and he has come out of the race well.
Elsewhere around the yard Gottardo has gone for a short holiday with Sophie Buckley who has done such a superb job with freshening our horses up.
Looking forward we have two declared runners. Roca Magica, has been declared at Chelmsford on Friday evening. With a stronger pace and more galloping track we should see her in a better light. She looks to have an excellent chance if coping with stall 15. Toro Dorado has been declared in the first race at Lingfield on Saturday. It looks to be a tight enough contest but he is in excellent form at home and we are hoping for a hat trick of wins.
In other news, assistant trainer, Jack Morland, was also spotted cleaning the yard car! (see Twitter video). Let’s hope it is his desk next! Keep up the good work Jack! Meanwhile, the office has swapped cake for fruit in a bid for a health kick! (Mr Fergal O’Brien will be disappointed!) As well as plenty of additional exercise!
I will update you all on any changes.
Thanks,
Ed
