It’s another warm start here at HQ but thunder storms could be on the way! The July meeting could start on nice ground as there is meant to be some rain around before the meeting starts and then it should be mainly dry throughout the meeting itself.
Sileel ran a good race last night when second at Kempton. The front pair were clear of the remainder and she just ran into a horse who improved for a marked step up in trip.
We potentially run two horses this afternoon at Great Yarmouth. Sir Gnet caught the eye when finishing strongly on the far rail at Newbury last week. He just failed to get up and if he runs today then he will be two pounds well in as the handicapper subsequently raised him to 67 but he runs off of 65 today. I won’t run him if there is any jar in the ground but we will watch the first and make a decision afterwards. He is a lightly raced sort who seemed to get the hang of things last time and if he relaxes again like last time he has strong claims. As an older horse Lunar Deity has to give us plenty of weight but he is on a role having won his last twice and is a big danger. Turning Gold has been knocking on the door and is gradually improving and cannot be discounted either.
Alemaratalyoum settled better last time and finished off his race well when second at Goodwood. A repeat of that run would see him have claims in the 3:20. Himalayan Queen is more exposed but she is a course and distance winner who won more comfortably that the official margin suggests on her last start. Anastazia saves her best for Yarmouth whilst Edged In Blue is interesting on his penultimate run.
