First Quest

There has been a strong wind over the last twenty four hours here at HQ and the ground at the July course will be drying out significantly. Richard Brown was out on the heath this morning with Tom Biggs to see Abdullah Al Naboodah’s horses go up Warren Hill. We have given most of them an easy week and the horses are fresh but luckily the superglue seems to be working and everyone has been sitting tight. I hope to have some runners at York and we are only two weeks away now.

First Quest runs in the 6:45 at Sandown this evening over a mile, he is stepping up in trip but I don’t think that will be a problem for him. He shaped with promise at Newmarket and was not beaten that far, I expect him to take a step forward this evening. There are some well-bred horses in the race and those that have run have shown promise but we hope he will run well. Chestnut Storm is a consistent filly who gallops but lacks a turn of foot. She holds claims once more in the 7:05 at Wolverhampton and I have put some cheekpieces on her as I think it might just help her.

The Third Test is finely poised with Pakistan going very well on 123-1 and we need two or three wickets soon or we could be in trouble. If we can win it then the momentum will be firmly with us. The Olympics are now upon us and it should be a fantastic spectacle, the four hour time difference means that the Opening Ceremony will not start until Midnight tomorrow however.
