When Goodwood is Glorious there are not many better places to be but yesterday’s horrific weather meant that many in attendance on the second day of the Glorious meeting wished they were elsewhere. The ground will be extremely testing today and the track is likely to be churned up which will affect the ground for the last two days. It is a great shame as the Nassau had looked a terrific race and whilst it still a very good one it has lost some of its sparkle given the ground and the non-runners.
Amlad was our only runner yesterday due to the soft ground at Goodwood and he could never get competitive from his high draw and disliked the deep ground up the straight.
Wealth Tax is our only runner today and he runs in the 3:55 at Nottingham. He has only had the one start on turf and I am not sure he stayed the 10f at Newbury in very holding ground. The form of his win has worked out very well and he was drawn terribly when disappointing last time. We are convinced he wants soft ground and a mile looks like his optimum trip, so we will be disappointed if he doesn’t run a good race today. There are three non-runners but Prosecution has been very consistent and may get away with the drop in trip on soft ground, he looks like the horse we all have to beat.
