Oceanus
It’s been a drying day here in Newmarket and the ground on The Rowley Mile is likely to be on the fast side of good. It promises to be a fantastic three days of racing and we will be running six horses here at HQ.
It was fantastic to edge closer to the fifty mark for the season after Crystal Dome won up at Redcar yesterday. He displayed a lot of inexperience when hitting the front and I hope there will be more to come from him. Magdalene Fox was disadvantaged by being held up in a slowly run race and I think we will see better from him when there is a more even gallop. Oud Metha Bridge shaped with a good deal of promise in the 6f Maiden and finished his race off well.
We have two runners today starting with Almizhar in the 2:00 at Newmarket. He was slowly away at Sandown and never got into the race there on his debut, it looks a tough race here too but I hope he can build on his first run and finish his race off out of the dip. Oceanus runs later on in the 4:35 at Pontefract, I think a stiff Mile will suit him and the overnight rain was very welcome. Cirencester is entitled to improve for her debut and is the worthy favourite on potential but I am hoping our gelding can give her something to think about.
