Trip To Paris

It is cooler today and overcast but it is still muggy. The ground at Royal Ascot is sure to be safe, fast ground again but the bias towards the high numbers is likely to remain, especially now the jockeys have it in their mind that they need to get across to the Stands side.

We had three runners yesterday. Same Jurisdiction travelled well in the Duke Of Cambridge but appeared not to stay the Mile at Ascot, we may look to drop her back to 7f. Warrior Prince got a little tired at Chelmsford  on his seasonal debut and the slow early pace would not have suited him. Khitaamy was a little disappointing in the 6f Maiden and I hope we can get him back on track next time, possibly back up at 7f.

Trip To Paris runs in The Gold Cup this afternoon and I hope that a return to Ascot can spark him into life. He has not been the same horse since he has returned from injury last year, he ran with great promise at Newbury in the Steventon and then he’s not really gone forward from that. He seems in great form at home, he has been full of life and has been moving well on the gallops, so I hope he can run a respectable race for us and if he does anything more than that we will all be absolutely delighted. It is fantastic to get him back here to Royal Ascot for the Gold Cup and we are all looking forward to it.

Wealth Tax steps up in class and in trip when contesting the 2:55 Mile handicap at Chelmsford. It is fantastic prize money on offer and given we can’t run him on fast ground, it looks like the right race for him. He has a light weight of 8:3 and has run well at the course before. It is a competitive race however as you would expect in a 0-90 and Lastmanlastround is in good form and looks the one we have to beat given he has a valuable five pounds taken off his back.

Sagely runs in the 3:30 at Chelmsford over 1m2f. She has been given a little chance by the handicapper after two disappointing runs. She found the 1m trip too sharp on her seasonal debut and she improved fitness wise for that run. She travelled very well at Beverley but it was her first try on soft ground and when Tom Eaves asked her to quicken on it, she couldn’t. She broke her Maiden at Wolverhampton on an all-weather surface and we believe it will suit, given the excuses we feel she has a better chance than most people would think and I hope she can run a good race. Celebration Day has been progressing and holds strong claims whilst Banditry returns to the all-weather which seems to suit him better. Zzoro comes here on the back of a win and can’t be discounted.
