Mulzim
It’s a thoroughly miserable morning here in HQ and we have had around 8mm of rain since the early hours of today. The rain is due to stop soon and I hope it will be good ground at the July Course by tomorrow evening. On a positive note, the rain meant that I was able to work horses on the grass this morning and I was happy with how the unraced two year olds went. We run two newcomers tomorrow here at Newmarket and I hope I will get some more out soon.
Mudallel has hopefully turned a corner and I was really pleased with the way he finished his race off back over a mile last night. Our first try at a mile was a disaster earlier in the season when he refused to settle but this was much more like it and he won very well by nearly four lengths. Global Exceed bumped into a rival coming out of the stalls and was far too lit up, he therefore failed to run his race. Zamadance ran ok from a wide draw but he did not quite see his race out and we may drop him back to ten furlongs.
We run two horses this evening at Chepstow and Yarmouth. Blushing Red has some reasonable form to his name on soft ground this year but he has been too keen lately. We are dropping him back in trip to help solve this and as there is some cut at Chepstow, we thought it was worth taking the long journey to Wales. If he can get into a rthymn and does not fight his jockey the stiff finish may suit him and he could run well. Native Prospect has been bumping into some smart rivals and he is a deserved favourite here, Pondering is improving but steps up in class and Fools And Kings is unexposed and won last time but that was in Median Auction company.
Mulzim drops back in trip to 6f at Yarmouth and given the speed he showed last time we think this should suit. He was disappointing on the face of it at Thirsk but the ground was softer than ideal and he was returning from a two month break. Despite overnight rain the ground should be no softer than good at the Norfolk venue and we will be disappointed if he does not go close this evening. Musical Comedy has dropped to a very low mark and looks to be the main danger but hasn’t won for three years, Cat Silver has to be respected as he won last time but it was a weak race, In The Spotlight is a course and distance winner but this does not look a strong race.
