Navajo Squaw
Good Afternoon from Newmarket. It was pleasing to see Dancingwithwolves perform with credit on his debut at Kempton yesterday evening. A headstrong individual, he ran his race the wrong way round, proving keen in the early stages and just tiring late on. However, he still finished a creditable fourth in a warm enough looking race and might be a decent prospect for next year if we can get him racing more efficiently.
Today we rely on just one runner again, and this time it is the turn of Navajo Squaw in the 8.45 at Chelmsford. A daughter of Sir Percy, she doesn’t do anything in a hurry, and has been in need of this step up to two miles for some time. Her last run at Lingfield was a disappointment, but I drew encouragement from her previous effort at Yarmouth, and I hope the switch back to a more conventional track will suit. She needs to find a good bit to be competitive, but she continues to drop in the weights and is unexposed at the trip. I hope we will see some positive signs.
All the best,
Ed.
