Tadleel

It has been a somewhat overcast and cloudy morning in Suffolk with some light rain early on. For the moment at least, the rain we have become accustomed to seems to have abated, and at Newmarket horses are galloping on the driest ground we have seen for some time.

On the face of it, Tajarrob’s performance at Wolverhampton last night was disappointing. She travelled well behind the pace but couldn’t go with the leaders when they quickened off the home bend. Yet Dane O’ Neill suggested she is still learning and may need more racecourse experience to show her best.

It is day two of the fabulous Chester May meeting and I send Tadleel to contest the Abbey Logistics Handicap at 3.00. This is a typically competitive 3 yr old handicap with plenty of progressive and unexposed rivals.  Few tracks can rival Chester for atmosphere and excitement, while the configuration of the track itself is a distinct challenge for both horse and rider. Another key element to racing in Chester is the draw.  Unfortunately for Tadleel, lady luck has not been kind and his task is made all the more difficult from stall 11.  Traditionally, any horse drawn higher then 7 have struggled to make an impact over 7f at Chester, but we must play the hand that’s dealt, and hope that fortune will favour the brave.

All the best,

Ed.
