Sagely
It is slightly cooler today but the weather remains dry here in HQ. As I mentioned earlier in the week we are going to have a busy few days now and we run eleven horses during the rest of this week. The horses all seem well after their work on Tuesday and we will be working many of them again tomorrow.
Oceanus ran encouragingly at Epsom on Tuesday and was doing all his best work at the finish. The winner very much got the run of the race from the front but after he was too keen at Sandown we needed to see him settle and finish his race. He settled much better and given they sprinted down the straight he ran very well in third.
We have two runners today, Sagely contests the Prix de Liancourt at 1:10 our time over ten and a half furlongs. She has something to find on the ratings with two of the fillies in the field and it is a competitive race as you would expect for a Listed contest. The ground should be ideal for her and James Doyle rides, we don’t think she quite stayed one and a half miles in the Galtres so we are hopeful she can improve on that run at this more suitable trip. Alligator runs later this evening at Chelmsford in the 6:10pm one mile Nursery. He has had a gelding operation and it appears to have benefited him, so we hope he can step up on what he has shown so far. The front two have both shown some ability and set the standard but we hope he can be competitive off of this mark.
