SOUR MASH bounced back to form in fine style at Newbury to land the Dubai Duty Free Surprise Handicap, in front of his American owner Earle Mack. The son of Danehill Dancer relished the good-to-soft conditions, travelling well throughout, and weaved his way through the pack under Frankie Dettori to come home half a length clear.
The boss said: "œHe won a maiden for Luca Cumani but lost his way a bit and then went to Chris Wall who, to be fair to him, wasn't firing earlier in the season."
"œHe liked the ground and does always work well. I think the jumping boys might like him."
Mack said: "œI thought beforehand that if he ran as well as he looked, he'd win."
