Good afternoon,
It has been a very busy, but successful weekend here at La Grange Stables, with all the excitement of the Henry Cecil Newmarket Open Weekend.
The action kicked off on Saturday afternoon in the Qatar Sponsored Hack Show, where Ed Dunlop Racing was proudly represented by Pupil Assistant, Harrier Shirra on Prince, and work rider, Killian Gallagher on my trusty hack Senior Whim. With nine hacks from various Newmarket yards lining up to impress the judge, we were delighted to come home with a rosette for both – 5th place for Prince and a very creditable 2nd for Senior Whim.
Sunday morning we opened the gates and we were thrilled by the amount of visitors. Once again, Debby pulled out all the stops with the cake stand, producing some delicious home-baked cakes to go with the tea and coffee on offer. We also had Killian and Harriet on parade with their prize winning hacks running a ‘Guess the Weight of Senior Whim’ competition. And our Tombola stand attracted plenty of attention with all the wonderful prizes our suppliers had generously donated. All-in-all we raised over £800 for Racing Welfare and the other chosen charities.
I would like to thank Mike Shepherd and Will O’Shanghnessy for organising the veterinary and farrier displays, my staff, for working so hard and to everyone who came to La Grange Stables to see us!
