Virgin Snow gave us our first winner of the season on the turf at Haydock yesterday. Being the daughter of our globetrotting supermare Snow Fairy, she has always been a horse we have held close to our hearts and she seems to have inherited plenty of her mother’s resolve and ability as she stayed on past the previously unbeaten Beautiful Illusion to win impressively under Jim Crowley.
Last year she showed plenty of ability over a mile in maiden company and we hoped that the step up in trip to 1m 2f would bring out the necessary improvement. She has really strengthened up well over the winter and like the rest of her family, was always going to improve as a three year old and let’s hope this improvement keeps building!
To give our Champion, Snow Fairy her first winner as a mare is a huge thrill for me and a massive thank you must go to my owner, Mrs Patino who has supported me since the start of my training career and bred not only this filly but her mother as well. Also a massive thank you must go to Ginny McGrath who keeps Snow Fairy at her Stud in Ireland and looks after her and all her progeny so well.
A final mention must go out to Joey Brown who rides her every day and Paul Beschizza who looks after her.
Let hope it is a sign of things to come.
All the best
Ed
