It was a small team of 2 that lined up for La Grange at the Royal meeting this week with the Cayton Park homebred, last time out winner, Skukuza, proving to be Ed and the stable’s best chance of success.
The 3 y-o colt by Blue Point went to post in the traditionally competitive Britannia Handicap, ran over the straight mile at Ascot, as a 16/1 shot after breaking his maiden last time out in Class 3 Newmarket Handicap. William Buick was able to keep Skukuza relaxed, held up in a strongly run contest, and when produced for a run the colt pulled clear with the eventual winner to finish a very creditable runner up.
