SINGERSONGWRITER hit all the right notes on her racecourse debut, when running out the easy winner of the EBF Yorkshire Radio Maiden Stakes over seven furlongs at Doncaster yesterday. Confidently ridden by Graham Lee, this giant sized daughter of Ravens Pass was always in command and appeared not to be phased by the soft ground when making smooth headway down the outside to score by two and three quarter lengths. This filly is out of the Selkirk mare Independence (who won four races for Dunlop, including the Matron Stakes at the Curragh and the Sun Chariot Stakes at Newmarket) and is a half sister to Group 2 winner Monitor Closely and the Eclipse winner Mount Nelson. Owned and bred by Cliveden Stud, this two year old has plenty of scope and is one to look forward to for the future.
Ed quoted, "She'd been working well at home, but mine don´t often win first time out, so maybe she´s half-decent. She´s a nice filly and we´ll put her away now for next year."
