Sharnberry stakes classic claim

Sun 17 April 2011

SHARNBERRY produced a career best performance when splitting Rimth and Eucharist in the Fred Darling Stakes at Newbury on Saturday, leaving Ed in a quandary, whether to take the same route as her sire, Shamardal, and aim for the French 1000 Guineas or stump up the supplementary fee and head for the Newmarket classic.

Ed said:"Sharnberry is entered for Longchamp, but Kieren (Fallon) obviously thinks he will win his appeal as he has recommended we stay at home. Our Guineas does look very open this year, and Sharnberry was not as ready as the winner. She came and won her race at the 200 metre mark but just got a bit tired and Rimth quickened past us. However, our filly is not there yet and we have still got a bit to work on, so we will weigh up the options in the next week or so and then make a decision."
