A chilly and overcast day out on the heath this morning. We used both Warren and Long Hill first lot and the majority of the string went up Warren Hill second lot. Lord and Lady Derby joined us for breakfast after seeing Girl With A Pearl out at exercise. Lady Derby is a member of the Racing Fillies partnership that owns her.
I thoroughly enjoyed Cheltenham but the biggest disappointment for me was Cue Card falling when travelling so well, we will never know what would have happened but Don Cossack galloped powerfully up the hill and would have been hard to beat. The highlight was Victoria Pendleton’s superb fifth and I am sure her mentors will be absolutely delighted with the ride she gave Pacha Du Polder. She allowed him to get into a rhythm in the early part of the race before picking her way through the field, she was very close to grabbing fourth spot and for someone who has been riding for twelve months it was an incredible achievement.
The turf is rapidly approaching but first we have two valuable all weather cards on Good Friday. Wolverhampton are taking on the abandoned Musselburgh card and we have made one entry in the 1m handicap. We have five entries earlier in the week and I will update you on any declarations throughout next week. Have a fantastic weekend.
