It was a much clearer and milder start to the morning today and I hope that the frosts are now behind us as we move into mid-March. Not long until Doncaster now.
The horses are running well and Justice First ran another solid race when finishing second at Chelmsford last night. The winner won well and the fast early gallop suited Craftsmanship best of all. Justice holds no secrets from the handicapper now but he has been a good flag bearer for the stable over the Winter and he has been holding his form well. We will look for another suitable race for him in the near future.
Chestnut Storm and Sagely both run this evening in the 1710 at Wolverhampton. Sagely ran well in second last time and will hopefully improve as the year progresses. The favourite will be hard to beat today stepping up in trip but she has an each way chance. Chestnut Storm is still inexperienced and it will be tough for her as she has been drawn out in stall 8.
The Grand Slam is on the line today and I am lucky enough to be heading to Twickenham. I am heading there with David Simcock who is a Welshman so I hope I will have something to brag about on the journey home. England looked very good against Ireland and were finally clinical in the middle of the second half. If we progress again then we should have no problem righting the wrongs of recent years. Then it will just leave France standing in the way of a Grand Slam!!
