An arty shot in the yard by Debby

There was the most fantastic sunrise over Newmarket this morning which was fitting given today is when the season really gets going. The majority of the horses went up Long Hill but a few went up Long Hill. They remain fit and well. It was great to start April off so well with our second double of the year. The news shoes seemed to work!! Capricious Cantor was extremely gutsy at Lingfield as Pursuitofthestars refused to give up but she kept finding when she needed to. There was not much depth to the race but the form could be ok. Chestnut Storm will hopefully be competitive once she steps into handicap company. Manjaam won the three year old 0-75 handicap and he looks progressive. Nordenfelt ran in the maiden beforehand and was a little disappointing but he is still very much learning about being a racehorse.

We have two runners today and they are both making their racecourse debuts. Amazing Red is a half-brother to Red Cadeaux and he is a horse I like but he is very much a work in progress and anything he does today will be a bonus. It looks to be a warm maiden which you would expect. Makman runs in the Novice Stakes at Kempton and he is another horse I am keen on but some horses in the field will be more wound up for this race than he is. I hope he can show us he has ability and I would be delighted if he finished in the first three.

A fantastic weekend of racing started on a high note when Winx made it nine wins in a row at Royal Randwick. Everything has gone smoothly in her latest runs but it looked like today would be a different. She was behind a wall of horses and not travelling with as much ease as usual but as soon as a split appeared she took the gap and won easily beating some good horses in the process. She has proved herself to be a star and the Australian public have another horse to take to their hearts. Well done to Tommy Berry who rode Trip To Paris for us in the Caulfield and Melbourne Cup on his big race double today.
