Global Exceed

After a Friday without runners from La Grange, we are back to racecourse action today with two runners at Newmarket, and three at Beverley. Reddiac is first to post on the July course when making his debut in the 6f ‘AFT Fluorotec EBF Novice Stakes’ (2.00). Mr Arculli’s 2yr old colt has been going well at home, and I have been looking forward to getting him to the track. It looks a competitive Novice for Reddiac’s introduction to racing, and while I feel he will progress well in time, I hope he can have a good showing today and learn plenty from the experience. Next up at Newmarket is Amazing Red in the 1m6f ‘John Sunley Memorial Handicap’ (3.40). Mr Arculli’s 5yr old gelding was behind two of today’s rivals on last run at HQ but looked a little unlucky on the day not to finish closer after meeting some interference coming out of the dip. While he will still have his work cut out to turn the tables on these, he is in good form and should run well. I give him an EW chance.

At Beverley my first runner is Mr Gent in the 7½f ‘Turbo Systems Median Auction Maiden Stakes’ (2.05). Mr Zheng’s 3yr old gelding needs to improve on his Redcar run to have a say in the finish here. He has been working well at home and has the assistance of talented 5lb claimer Cameron Noble. While drawn a little wide in 5, It is a relatively small field and he should be able to slot in behind the leaders from there. I am hoping for an improved performance. Next at Beverley is Global Exceed in the 7½f ‘Filplastic UK Ltd 25th Anniversary Handicap’ (5.35). Dr Hon’s 3yr old colt is having his second run back from a break after a respectable return at Chepstow in May. He will need to build on this to have a say in the finish here, but with some progression this may be possible. It is a typically- tight handicap for the track, but I am hopeful of an improved showing from Global Exceed. Last for today is Global Spirit in the second division of the 7½f ‘Filplastic UK Ltd 25th Anniversary Handicap’ (6.35). Dr Hon’s colt ran well last time at Lingfield from a very difficult draw. He was dropped in from his wide berth and was a hostage to circumstance meeting some interference trying to make ground through the pack as the race progressed. Today the draw has been kinder and I hope Global Spirit can take advantage of this and give him a decent EW chance.

All the best,

Ed.
