ROMEO MONTAGUE has been something of a character to train, but decided to keep his head in front at Ascot today to make it three career wins for the son of Montjeu. After a frustrating year of places in competitive handicaps, he won well here over two miles under a waiting ride from Ryan Moore. Held up early, he made smooth progress three furlongs out and set sail for home at the furlong pole, staying on impressively to hold off Martial Law by a half a length at the line. On his penultimate start the Mrs Gaynor Rupert owned gelding finished third in the Queen Alexandra Stakes at Royal Ascot and it was there that he displayed his stamina over two miles and five furlongs. The four year old is continuing La Grange's constant stream of winners of late and long may it continue!
