Wed 04 December 2013

Red Cadeaux, the globe-trotting star is back at the scene of his last Grade One victory – Sha Tin Racecourse, hoping to regain his crown in the Hong Kong Vase .

After finishing a gallant runner up in the Melbourne Cup for a second time, Red Cadeaux has now amassed nearly four million pounds in prize money and he will attempt to be the third horse to win back to back running's of the Hong Kong Vase.

Having travelled over from Australia last week, Red Cadeaux has settled into his new surroundings well and seems to be enjoying being back at Sha Tin where he is being keenly watched from the sidelines by big-race rider Gerald Mosse. The 2013 Dubai World Cup and Melbourne Cup runner-up continues to "tick over well" according to travelling head lad Robin Trevor-Jones.

Robin said: "He's as fit as a flea. Gerald has such a great record on him including winning this last year, but he has never ridden him in work and we are not planning to change that successful formula anytime soon."

Ed Dunlop commented before his departure for Hong Kong this afternoon: "I leave for Hong Kong today and so far everything seems to be going well with Red Cadeaux, the race looks more competitive this year but let's hope he runs another great race for us"
