Red Cadeaux duly delivers

Sat 14 May 2011

Well, Ed left you in doubt that RED CADEAUX headed off to Scotland carrying maximum stable confidence, and the 6-1 chance duly delivered in the £45,000 William Hill Braveheart Handicap at Hamilton on Friday night.

Tom McLaughlin might not have been to Hamilton for 17 years, but he had not forgotten his way around, and, with the fast pace suiting Red Cadeaux, he stamped his authority on the race late on to take the Listed prize in style.

Ed said:"Red Cadeaux ticked all the right boxes for this race - we finally had our ground and just needed a good gallop and, thankfully, they did not hang about, so his stamina came into play. He does not necessarily need soft ground, just no faster than good, and it was definitely too firm for him when he ran in last week's Chester Cup."

Now Ed will peruse the programme book to find a similar race for Red Cadeaux, but everything will depend on the ground and, with Haydock being a course which gets more rain than most, perhaps the £85,000 Old Newton Cup on July 2 will be one of his targets.
