Amazing Red set out from Newmarket last night on a long journey towards Northern Spain, where he is set to take his chance in the valuable and prestigious Listed Copa De Oro Stakes at San Sebastian racecourse on Thursday the 15th of August.
Amazing is being accompanied by Scott McGeorge and Tom McLaughlin, and the trio drove down to Folkestone yesterday evening for a late night crossing, before heading on to Chantilly. That is where they are currently pit stopping, and taking on some sustenance, in readiness for the long trek south tomorrow from Chantilly to San Sebastian racecourse, which lies on the Bay of Biscay in the famous Basque Country.
Once there they can sample the beautiful scenery, the glorious seafront promenade and world renowned restaurants – plus there is the small matter of a €68,000 added Listed contest over a mile and a half at the historic San Sebastian Hippodrome to keep them occupied!
Before thoughts turn to Thursday’s big race of course, we must focus on the horse getting there in the best possible shape, and Scott and Tom are leaving no stone unturned in an effort to get Amazing Red to his destination as smoothly as possible.
A few pictures of the horse settling into his Chantilly surroundings are attached, and keep an eye on our social media channels over the coming days as we document this exciting Spanish adventure!
